Yiğit Alp Onat

Brief info

Yiğit Alp Onat was born in 1991 in Bursa, Turkey. He completed his secondary education at Uludağ University State Conservatory working together with Dr. Özgür Elgün. Continuing his high school education at Bursa Zeki Müren Anatolian Fine Arts High School, Onat continued his cello studies with Dr. Çağrı Şen. During his high school education, he took part in national and international concerts as a soloist and an orchestra member. He completed his undergraduate education at Balıkesir University Necatibey Faculty of Education. He went to Bursa Uludağ University through a student exchange program (FARABI) and he continued his cello studies with Assoc. Prof. Erol Demirbatır. After his undergraduate education, he worked as an instructor in the proffesions of violoncello, music theory, piano and choir at Private Cemal Reşit Rey Fine Arts High School in İstanbul between 2013 and 2015. In 2016, he worked on music theory with Dr. Faris Akarsu. He conducted Primary and Secondary School’s music lessons and Classical Guitar lessons at Private Çekmeköy Final College in Istanbul 2016. Afterwards, he qualified for his master's degree in the Department of Music Education at Gazi University. He started working on "cello" and "literature" with Prof. Dr. Şebnem Orhan. In the mean time, Onat had a great number of opportunity to study and perform with Şinasi Çilden, who has been retired from Turkey Presidential Symphony Orchestra. Onat took part in orchestras such as Gazi Youth Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Efe. Secondly, he took part in The Silk Road Orchestra under the direction of Turan Manafzade and lastly, he played a role as a group member in small chamber music groups. During his master education, he has returned to Balıkesir University Necatibey Faculty of Education as a violoncello and music theory instructor. Furthermore, Onat continued his career as an instrument teacher with special-needs kids such as autistic and with down syndrome from many different age groups. He settled in England in December 2019. He recorded the cello of Richard FAY’s ‘‘Hamosity’’ album which has been released in January 2021. Onat continues his music and teaching career under the roof of his own company called "Onat Music" in London.
